Skilled in Odisha logo unveiled, Bhubaneswar to be promoted as Skill City

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik today unveiled the brand identity logo of ‘Skilled in Odisha’ campaign. At the unveiling ceremony, Patnaik expressed his pleasure at the mammoth participation of the youths of the state at the upcoming state skills competition- Odisha Skills 2018. The event is scheduled to be held in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar from April 28-30.

“I am hopeful that such events will lead to more opportunities to the youth at the global level and will make skill inspirational for them. Our Mission- Skilled in Odisha will be known as a global standard of excellence in skill training”, Patnaik said. The chief minister congratulated the department of skill development & technical education and the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) for bringing up brand identity for the Mission which is youthful, vibrant and global. Patnaik also congratulated the ITI students for their active participation in developing the logo.

In a parallel development, the chief minister unveiled the Bhubaneswar Skill City Map. This is a novel concept to attract global investors towards the quality of skilled manpower available in the state and generate employment so that it becomes a paradigm of new pathways and interconnections that form a central part of the government’s vision of making ‘Skilled in Odisha’ brand global.

Subroto Bagch, chairman of OSDA and other key government officials were present at the ceremony. OSDA formed by the Odisha government in 2016, is tasked with guiding, implementing, coordinating and overseeing all skill development programmes in the state to ensure quality skill training standards and employability of trained youth with the goal to providing outstanding skilled workforce comparable to the best in the world.

The opening ceremony of Odisha Skills 2018 will be held in Cuttack on April 28 at the indoor stadium with an expected audience of about 6000. At the preliminary stage, the event has witnessed the participation of nearly 7000 youths across Odisha competing in six sectors and 25 skills.

Odisha Skills 2018 is being organised at the IDCO Exhibition Ground. Out of 25 skill competitions lined up for the event, 17 will be staged at this ground and the balance at partner institutes in Bhubaneswar.
