Aparajita Sarangi, an amiable Odisha cadre IAS officer, has jumped the electoral fray after formally joining the BJP. She’s contesting from Bhubaneswar, arguably one of the high profile constituencies whose poll outcome will be intently watched. In the state capital, Aparajita is pitted against Arup Patnaik, ex Mumbai super cop and the ruling BJD’s nominee as well as the Leftist strongman Janardan Pati.
Voting is an inalienable right, every citizen is free to cast her or his vote without coercion or persuasion. But here we offer a primer on why Aparajita deserves our seal of electoral sanction.
1) BJP spells promise with progress: Aparajita is contesting on a BJP ticket and is emblematic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas’ initiative. Her victory will propel Odisha to a new era of growth and sow the seeds for a gratifying future.
2) Legacy of administrative acumen: Aparajita has been amply tested in her myriad roles as a bureaucrat. That wealth of experience should stand her in good stead to carry on this new political incarnate with elan.
3) People centric leader: You saw it unmistakably in her working style as an IAS officer and more recently in her informal hobnobbing with the people in her chosen constituency. With a passion for reforms and a visceral desire to serve the poor and disenfranchised, Aparajita has abundantly demonstrated the makings of a mass leader.
4) Anchoring Bhubaneswar as Smart City & beyond: Aparajita is our best bet to take the stunted Bhubaneswar Smart City project ahead. She has a penchant for swift delivery and execution of development oriented programmes.
